Learning Rationale: This is the second lesson in the 'Engage' stage of the unit. Students will begin the lesson by brainstorming and discussing what it means to have an online presence. Students will then develop a charter containing a set of rules about appropriate online conduct, language, content, etc, that will be the basis of their online presence during the rest of the unit as well as in real life situations. They will also be creating an account on Edmodo that will be used in future lessons from the unit.
Lesson Goals: At the end of this lesson, students will have an understanding of the importance of their online conduct and safety, and will have demonstrated this through the creation of their class charter of online conduct. Students will also have created an Edmodo account and linked it correctly with the network, and demonstrated their ability to use the account by uploading their Inspirations Map from the previous lesson.

Lesson Resources:
Smartboard with teacher device connected to access Edmodo
Edmodo group code for students to be able to join the class group
Lesson Outline
Teacher will ask students what they already know about technology and how we connect with each other.
Teacher will work with class to create a social media rules and regulations charter that will be displayed in the room. This is important, as many future lessons will see students on digital communication programs throughout the unit.
Teacher will introduce Edmodo accounts to students on the Smartboard. Will take students through tour and show them how they will be using Edmodo (uploading, joining groups, downloading work teacher has added).
Students will retrieve personal device and begin making their Edmodo account. Students will link accounts to class group using code that teacher possesses.
Students will upload their Inspirations Map from previous lesson as a test of their account.
Students will post on Edmodo on the topic of how they think Edmodo will help their learning as an open ended question to get them thinking about how digital media can help them.

SAMR ANALYSIS
Edmodo is Redefinition because it can only happen on social media online. Social media on papers is not possible because social media is used for technology and use it anywhere and anytime.
