ABOUT
This digital media response is an interactive resource that introduces students to facts and information about Asian countries. It allows students to see how Scratch can be used to create presentations and portray information in a creative way. This response is an innovative resource that a teacher could produce as a way of linking web 2.0 resources as apart of their pedagogy, not just an additional after thought. |

To create an interactive resource on Scratch that works towards the learning unit key questions of:
- How do places, people and cultures differ across the world?
- How has digital technology helped the way we connect with the world?
INITIAL IDEAS:
- Link to a curriculum domain - A product/resource that could easily be expanded - Needs to be completed within the short timeframe - Not much experience with Scratch PLAN: - Take students on a journey around the Asian region. - Key main countries within this region we considered: China, Indonesia, India, Japan, Thailand, South Korea. - Fly around and find pockets of information & prompting questions. SUPPORTING RESOURCES AND DOCUMENTS: A simple introductory instruction guide from Scratch Video tutorials from the Scratch website particularly:Information for each country was found at the following sites:

REFLECTION
When we were discussing our topic of how to thrive in a digital world, a common and recurring theme was using the digital world to connect to the rest of the world. From this, we decided that utilising digital technology, as a method of connecting to the world was our main goal with this project. We chose Scratch, as our program of choice for the response mainly due to it's potential to do so many different things. Scratch proved to be a great program for what we aimed to accomplish, and gave us a resulting project that we could build from and utilise in future projects. Our plan for the response regularly changed in ways as we actually made the project, due to the discovery of new features, new inspiration based on what we could do, and the reverse of this, when we discovered there were things we could not do with the program. The response is a piece we feel is a good reflection of what we aimed to do. It meets our idea of using technology to connect to the world at large through discovery. It is a highly engaging piece, due to the interactivity and non-linear nature of the piece. The building of the project also helped all of us in the group to develop new skills and often changed our way of thinking due to the style of the program. By adapting ourselves to this method of thinking and using the program to develop something to help better ourselves, we have shown we have the ability to adapt to the needs of the 21st Century learner. We have truly proved that our Digital Media Response has helped us as teachers thrive in a digital world.
